Sischo, Arthur William (1865 - 1951)


GREENWOOD--Arthur William Sischo, 85, Greenwood, Clark County, died at his home here yesterday, March 11, 1951, at 4:15 a.m. He had been in poor health since suffering a stroke a year ago last month.


Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Grace Methodist Church. The Rev. Lee Holmes will officiate and burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Schiller Funeral Home until Thursday noon.


Mr. Sischo was born April 28, 1865, in Vilas County and spent most of his early years there. He married Bessie Mae Morse in Neillsville on Sept. 24, 1889. They lived in Christie for a short time after their marriage and then moved to Greenwood, where they had lived ever since. Mrs. Sischo died Jan. 5 this year.


Survivors include two sons, Merril of Wausau, and Leo, Neillsville, and five daughters, Mrs. Ray (Ora) Richardson, Warwick, N.D. Mrs. Marvin (Nina) Engel, Spencer and Mrs. Charles (Olive) Hare, Mrs. Melvin (Altah) Thomas, and Miss Ruth Sischo, all of Greenwood. Twenty-six grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren are also living.
