EDITH GOTZ


Mrs. Frederick (Edith) Gotz
, 71, of Pittsville, a former Greenwood, Clark County resident, died at 11:15 a.m. Monday, March 27, 1978 at the Family Heritage Nursing Home in Wisconsin Rapids, where she had been a resident for three weeks.


Mrs. Gotz, the former Edith Keiner, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Christ Keiner, Sept. 4, 1906 at Athens, Wis. She attended the Athens and Loyal schools and graduated from the Greenwood High School in 1924. She moved to Pittsville in 1929 where she was a waitress at the Pittsville Caf . She was married to Frederick Gotz in 1942 in the parsonage of the Congregational Church. She had lived with her son Bruce and family at Wisconsin Rapids for the past year, before entering the nursing home.


She was active in community affairs. Mrs. Gotz was Pittsville correspondent for the Marshfield News Herald, and the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune for many years.


She was a member and served as president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Ladies Aid of United Church of Christ, and the Royal Neighbors. She was a 50 years member of the Pittsville Homemakers and a member of the Pittsville Senior Citizens and the Pittsville United Church of Christ.


Surviving are two sons, Leonard P. Leberg of Chilton and Bruce Leberg of Wisconsin Rapids one daughter, Mrs. Bud (Dolores) Albrecht of Arpin eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter and three sisters, Louis Keiner of Greenwood, Mrs. Martha Corbin of Oak Creek and Mrs. Hugh (Frieda) Severson of Greenwood. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers, Henry who died in 1962 and Carl in 1973.


Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at the United Church of Christ in Pittsville. The Rev. Kenyon E. Moyer, Pastor, officiated. Burial was made in the Mound Cemetery in Pittsville. The Buchanan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


Pallbearers were Herman Albrecht, Harry Johnson, Glen Franson, Ingewald Will, Glen Dillman and Kenneth Sherwood. In the Garden and Abide with Me were sung by the vocalist, Miss Mary Garrels, with Mrs. Clarice Pabst as organist.
