Sowieja, Jerome Jr. (1948 - 1952)


GREENWOOD, CLARK COUNTY--An Angel High Mass was read at St. Mary's Catholic Church Monday by the Rev. Father Edward Hartung for Jerome M. Sowieja Jr., 3, son of mr. and Mrs. Jerome Sowieja Sr. who died Friday, Aug. 15, 1952 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he was born Sept. 20, 1948.


Burial took place in the Catholic Cemetery.


On July 31 the child fell while playing and while in a coma was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he remained until Aug. 8, when he returned home. Thursday, Aug. 14, he again went into a coma and was taken back to the hospital, where he died at 1:50 a.m. Friday. An autopsy revealed that a blood clot formed at the time of the fall and worked its way back to the base of the brain during the time between comas.


He is survived by his parents, a brother, Donnie, a sister, Susan, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Gabara, Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Sowieja, Atwood uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Sowieja, Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Sowieja, Mr. and Mrs. John Pavlow, Mr. and Mrs. Al Lindenberg, Mr. and Mrs. William White, all of Milwaukee George Gabara Jr., with the Army in Germany, and James Sowieja, with the Army in Alaska.
