Zahnow, Lillian (1906 - 1991)


Lillian Zahnow, 84, Canterbury Gardens, Aurora, Col., died Sunday Jan. 27, 1991, at Humana Hospital, Aurora, Col. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 31, 1991, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, Neillsville. Rev. James Gordon officiated and burial was in Zion American Lutheran Church Cemetery, Granton. Family and friends served as pallbearers.


Lillian Schlinsog was born Aug. 26, 1906, in the Town of York, Clark County, to Herman and Louise (nee Handt) Schlinsog. She received her education at the Romadka School. After school she was employed in Milwaukee. She married Hans Heimke June 8, 1927, in Milwaukee. She then moved to a farm with her husband just outside Granton. They farmed there for 29 years. In 1959 they moved into Granton, where they lived until 1961. He preceded her in death May 5, 1961. After her husband s death she moved to Eugene, Oregon. She returned to Neillsville and married Walter Zahnow June 5, 1965. They lived in Milwaukee for a short time before returning to Neillsville in 1967. He preceded her in death in 1980. In 1986 she moved to Denver, where she has resided since.


Survivors include two sons, Harland Heimke, Hubbell, Mich. and Gerald Heimke, Hancock, Mich. two daughters, Mrs. Lillian (Donald) Filegar, Denver, Col. and Mrs. Marian (William) Brooks, St. Petersburg, Fla. seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, three sisters and one brothers.


Gesche Funeral Home, Inc., handled the arrangements.
