Halpin, Eleanor (1900 - 1990)


Eleanor Halpin, 90, formerly of Loyal, died Friday, Aug. 17, 1990, at Neillsville Memorial Home, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 1990, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal. Rev. Roman Kaiser officiated and burial was in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Steve Humphrey, Tom Humphrey, Jerry Humphrey Jr., Doug Cummings, Mike Cummings, and Bill Cummings.


Eleanor Schecklman was born March 26, 1900, in the town of York, to Norbert and Annie (nee Schweiger) Schecklman.
She received her education at Alma Center High School and Appleton Business School. She lived in Alma Center and Jefferson, moving to Loyal in 1928. She married Paul Halpin Nov. 16, 1921, at Immaculate Conception Church, Alma Center. He preceded her in death Oct. 25, 1955. She worked for the Egg Plant in Marshfield. In Loyal she worked in the Canning Factory, McKenna Grocery Store, Colby s Grocery store and Wepfer's Pharmacy. She retired in 1965. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Royal Neighbors of America.


Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Duane (Muriel) Cummings, Bancroft and Mrs. Jerry (Mildred) Humphrey, Chili three sons, Arthur Halpin, Lake Elsinore, Calif. Jerry Halpin, Long Beach, Calif. and gene Halpin, Wisconsin Rapids 23 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.


She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one great-grandchild.


Rinka Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
