Augustine, Delmer William (1923 - 2001)


Delmer William Augustine, 77, Owen, formerly of Curtiss, died on Sunday, April 22, 2001, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, April 24, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Curtiss. The Rev. Lauren Ley officiated. Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, North Green Grove. Military rites were performed by the Colby VFW Post 2227. Pallbearers were Bruce Christopherson, Jeff Rasmussen, Robert Rasmussen, Cody Soyk, Dennis Augustine, and Arlan Hamm.


Delmer William Augustine was born on Nov. 3, 1923, in Colby, to Alfred and Amanda (nee Conrad) Augustine. He married Betty Luedtke. She died in 1974. He then married Amanda Steinbach. He worked as a cheesemaker, retiring from AMPI, Abbotsford, in 1985. He played the concertina in a polka band called the Augustine Trio. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a former member of the church council, Colby VFW Post 2227, and the Curtiss Lions.


Survivors include his wife, Amanda Augustine, Colby three daughters, Judy (Dale) Christopherson, Wausau, Donna (James) Rasmussen, Owen, and Karen (Larry) Soyk, Abbotsford six grandchildren and two sisters, Erma Schultz, Colby, and Lucille Umlauft, Marshfield.


He was preceded in death by his parents his first wife, Betty one daughter, Dorothy and three brothers.


Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, assisted the family with arrangements.
