Rayhorn, Gladys I. (1921 - 2001)


Gladys I. Rayhorn, 80, Loyal, died on Friday, May 25, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, May 29, at the Loyal United Methodist Church. The Rev. Evan G. Butterbrodt officiated. Inurnment was in the Loyal Cemetery.


Gladys Irene Anderegg was born on April 30, 1921, in the town of York, Clark County, to Henry and Cecelia (nee Evans) Anderegg. She was raised on the family farm south of Loyal and graduated from Loyal High school in 1938. After completing her education, she worked for a short time for Sears Roebuck and J.C. Penney. She married Ralph Rayhorn on Oct. 13, 1940, in Iowa. They moved to Seattle, Wash., where her husband was stationed in the U.S. Navy as an airplane mechanic. After his discharge from the Navy, they moved to Marshfield for a short time before moving to Loyal. They raised their family in Loyal, where she worked for the Loyal Shoe Store and sold Avon. Her husband died on June 22, 1984. She continued to reside in Loyal until the time of her death. She was an active member of the Loyal United Methodist Church, and the Loyal American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed walking, golfing, playing cards, sports, especially Packer football, and spending time with her family and friends.


Survivors include five children, Jeffery (Lorraine) Rayhorn, Long Prairie, Minn., Vicki (Russ) Weichelt, Folsom, Calif., Bruce (Patsy) Rayhorn, Neillsville, Wendy (Roger) Zopfi, Marshfield, and Lana Kruger, Marshfield 15 grandchildren six great-grandchildren and one sister, Lucille Brussow, Marshfield.


She was preceded in death by her parents he husband, Ralph Rayhorn and one sister, Marie Cox.


Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
