Wendt, Lila (1912 - 1926)

Lila Wendt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Wendt, died at the hospital at Chippewa Falls on Sunday afternoon at about 4:00 o'clock. Her death was due to influenza-pneumonia following an operation for appendicitis which she had submitted to on Thursday of the week before. The operation seemed successful but her weakened condition from the flu was more than she could withstand, and her life ebbed away.

She was a girl of fourteen years, ten months and 27 days. She was a freshman in the Owen High School, as well as being a member of the Congregational Sunday school, Christian Endeavor society and the Girls Service club. She was active as a worker in the schools and for a young girl had won for herself a great many friends by her kind disposition and winning ways. Her loss in the younger set will be greatly felt.

She leaves to mourn her loss her father and mother, five brothers, Charles, Harold, Edward, Raymond and Cecil, and four sisters, Clara, Alma, Bernice and Helen and a large number of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Congregational Church, Rev. W. P. Powell officiating, and the body was laid to rest in the family lot at the Reseburg Cemetery, three miles southeast of Thorp, Clark County.
