Pieper, Sylvia (1907 - 1980)


Funeral services for Sylvia Pieper, 73, a former Town of Beaver, Clark County resident, were conducted by Rev. Joseph Kraly at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal.


Mrs. Pieper died Sunday evening, Dec. 14, 1980, at the Colonial House of Colby Nursing Home, where she has been residing since March.


Sylvia Nelson was born on Sept. 3, 1907, in the Town of Beaver to the late William and Clara (nee Hardrath) Nelson. She received her education at Beaver Center School, Loyal High School and Eau Claire College.


She was a rural school teacher prior to her marriage on Dec. 22, 1928, to Walter Pieper at Beaver Dam.


They farmed in the Town of Beaver until 1956, then lived in Marshfield until illness took her to the nursing home.


She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Stanley (Iva) Stevens of Loyal and Mrs. Ray (Veryl) Grosnick of Manitowoc.


Burial was in the Loyal Lutheran Cemetery. Lester Bloom, Glen Bloom, Gerhardt Scheel, Harold Hardrath, Harley Hardrath and Glen Fischer served as pallbearers. Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, was in charge of arrangements.


Mrs. Pieper was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 1977 two brothers and one sister.
