Pernsteiner, Joseph, Sr. (1897 - 1981)


Joseph Pernsteiner, Sr., 84, of 411East Begley St., Greenwood, Clark County, died at 8:15 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 1981, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.


Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 9, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood.


Rev. Laurence Berger, Rev. Michael Mertens and Rev. James Logan officiated and interment was in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Loyal.
An 8:30 p.m. Prayer Service was conducted on Friday, May 8.


Joseph Pernsteiner was born to Anton and Theresa (nee Whiplinger) Pernsteiner at Little Black, Taylor County, on March 18, 1897. He received his education at Medford Schools.


On sept. 20, 1916, he was married in Medford to Ella Croswaitte. She died in 1964.


His second marriage was to Ann Kazmierczak on Feb. 14, 1970, at Milwaukee.


He farmed in the Medford area until 1952, then moved to Loyal and farmed in the Town of Loyal until 1965. He then moved to Greenwood, where he has resided since.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood.


Survivors include his wife, Ann one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Erna) McNeely of Loyal five sons, Alvin of Medford, Herman of Medford, Joseph of Granton, Chet of Loyal and Jim of Loyal one step-son, George Marcou of Wauwatosa two brothers, Anton and Casper, both of Medford one sister, Mrs. Ann Hafferman, Medford 56 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren.


Preceding him in death were his first wife, Ella two infant daughters four brothers and one sister.


Rinka Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
