Miller, Sadie (1909 - 1981)

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 16, at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, for Mrs. Sadie M. Miller, 72, of Route 4, Neillsville, Clark County, who was found dead in her home, Wednesday morning, May 13, 1981. Death is believed to have occurred late Friday evening, May 8, 1981.

Rev. D. E. Sprague, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, Neillsville, officiated and interment was in the Neillsville Cemetery.

Sadie Metcalf was born on Jan. 23, 1909, in the Town of York to Parker and Julia (Northup) Metcalf, and received her education in the Town of York.

She worked in Milwaukee and Chicago for several years, and was married on June 27, 1942, in Milwaukee to Alvin Miller. They moved to a farm in the Town of York in 1951.

She was employed as a Green Thumb worker as a teacher s aid at Loyal Elementary School.

Mrs. Miller was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Neillsville and numerous organizations, including Royal Neighbors of America.

She is survived by a brother, Leon Metcalf of Neillsville.

She was predeceased by her husband, Alvin, on June 14, 1973 one brother and three sisters.

Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, was in charge of arrangements.

Alvin Miller Farm

In 1948, Alvin Miller who was born in Big Falls, Waupaca County, Wisconsin, and his wife, Sadie, who was a native of Clark County, bought their 80 acre farm in the town of York, Section 20, from Mrs. Gormat of Indiana. In 1950, they bought 60 acres in Section 16 from Fred Brest. The Millers were married June 29, 1942. They belong to the Farmer's Union, Pure Milk Association, and the Farm Bureau.
