Denk, Gerald (1911 - 1982)


Funeral services for Gerald Denk, 70, of 306 S. Andrews, Greenwood, Clark County, were conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood.

Mr. Denk died at 4 a.m., Monday, Feb. 8, 1982, at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville.

Rev. Michael Mertens officiated at the service. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery, with Jim Annen, Steve Annen, Jeff Liebzeit, Todd Barr, Jamie Barr and Mike Humke, all grandsons, serving as pallbearers.

An 8 p.m. prayer service was conducted on Tuesday evening, Feb. 9, at Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood.

Gerald Denk was born to William and Mary (nee Gintner) Denk on Sept. 8, 1911, in the Town of Warner. He received his education at Greenwood Parochial and Greenwood High School.

He was married to Anna Lindner on Nov. 14, 1936, at Greenwood.


He farmed all his life in the town of Eaton, until retiring in 1974. They then moved to the City of Greenwood.

He was a member of St. Mary's catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Anna two sons, Romaine of Milwaukee and Gerald, Jr. of Mt. Prospect, Ill. five daughters, Mrs. Tom (Caroline) Annen of Crystal Lake, Ill., Mrs. Eldon (Corrine) Liebzeit of Waupaca, Mrs. Dennis (Mildred) Humke of Marshfield, Mrs. Bob (Janice) Brom of Willard and Mrs. Alice Larson of Waupaca seven brothers, Leonard of Loyal, Virgil of Decorah, Ill., Donald of Butler, Ronald of Cedarburg, Bernard of Greenwood, William of Greenwood and Jack of Waukesha two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Marian) Lyons of Sparta and Mrs. Victor (Dorothy) Wagner of Greenwood and 25 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were one son, Allan and one daughter, Rosemary.

Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, handled arrangements.
