Hohl, Edwin F. (1911 - 1982)


Hohl, Edwin F. "Fritz" Hohl, 70, of 323 South Main, Greenwood, Clark County, died unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack at about 10 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1982, at his home.

Services were at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 5, at Grace Methodist Church, Greenwood. Rev. Donald L. Adams officiated and burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Dennis Jaenke, Norman Roth, Perry Oestreich, Ed Sloniker, Mike Rakovec and Frank Thomas. Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, handled arrangements.

Edwin Hohl was born on July 19, 1911, to Edwin and Katherina (nee Sonderegger) Hohl at Blanchardville. He attended Greenwood Public Schools.

He was married to Luella Cline at Withee on Jan. 16, 1932. He had lived in Greenwood since 1914.

He operated a car dealership called Hohl Brothers in Greenwood with his brother, Walter, until selling the business in the 1960's. Since that time he had been working part-time for Roth Mfg. in Loyal.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was a former Rotarian, having served as president at one time.

He is survived by his wife two daughters, Gladys Bartelt of Greenwood and Nancy Ellingson of La Crosse one brother, Walter of Greenwood one sister, Mrs. Harvey (Anita) Heck of Greenwood seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was an infant son, Edwin, on Jan. 30, 1936 a son, David W. Hohl on Dec. 9, 1970 and his parents.

The Hohls recently celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
