Hmielak, Josephine M. (3 SEP 1960)

 

St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church at Thorp was the setting for the wedding Saturday morning, Sept. 3, 1960 at 11:30 o’clock of Miss Josephine M. Hmielak of Madison, and Dale Hokkanen of Lublin.  The Rev. Constance Chilicki officiated at the Mass and the church choir sang.

 

Parents of the bride and groom are Mr. and Mrs. John Hmielak of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.0, and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Lencz, Lublin.

 

Miss Hmielak approached the altar, which was decorated with white and yellow gladioli, with her father.  She wore a floor length gown of ivory brocade fashioned with a scoop neckline and long tapered sleeves.  Her elbow length veil of illusion was caught to a large Dior bow and she carried stephanotis and yellow sweetheart roses, centered by an orchid.

 

Mrs. Robert Ironside of Wis. Rapids was matron of honor, and bridesmaids were Miss Pat Hmielak of Thorp and Miss Ann Hokkanen of Lublin.  They wore street length gowns of emerald green brocade with cowl necklines and short sleeves.  They carried bouquets of yellow sweetheart roses and stephanotis.

 

Airman 2-c Robert Hmielak, Forbes Air Forces Base, Kansas, was best man, and groomsmen were Bell Sweda and John Lencz of Lublin.  Dave Teclaw and Frank Adruskiewicz were ushers.  Flower boy was Bobby Zdroik, nephews of the bride.  A reception for 300 people was held at the P.N.A. Hall in Thorp.

 

Mrs. Hokkanen is a graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Madison.  The groom is a student at Wis. State College, Whitewater, where the couple will make their home at 1107 W. Main St.
