Walter, Roman (17 Sept 1927-27 March 2012)

 

Roman J. Walter, 84, Loyal, died on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 30, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. Rev. Keith Kitzhaber officiated. Burial followed in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Don Brockman, Ken Brockman, Keith Brockman, Steve Brockman, Bob Vollmert and Nick Gearhard.

 

Roman Joseph Walter was born on Sept. 17, 1927, on the home farm in the township of Loyal, the son of George and Frances (nee Schecklman) Walter. He was raised on the farm and received his education at St. Balthazar’s Catholic School in Loyal. He and his brother, Albert, took over the operation of the home farm and he farmed until moving into Loyal in 2009. Roman was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, and had many interests, but especially enjoyed animals, sports, country music, radio talk shows, walking and reading.

 

Survivors include two sisters, Florence Stublaski, Wisconsin Rapids, and Isabelle Vollmert, Lodi; two nieces, Carol (Ken) Brockman, Lodi, and Barbara (Nick) Gearhard, Germantown; and one nephew, Robert (Claudia) Vollmert, Weston.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Albert, on June 12, 2009.
