Maeder, Marie (26 July 1877 - 7 April 1966)

 

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from St. John’s United Church of Humbird for Mrs. Marie Maeder, 88, of Humbird, who died last Thursday in Neillsville.  The Rev. Jacob Grether of Neillsville officiated and burial was made in the Mentor Cemetery at Humbird.

 

Mrs. Maeder was born July 26, 1877, in Switzerland. She came to the United States in 1900, locating in Freeport, Ill.  In 1904 she was married to Charles Wagner and lived in Freeport until 1919, when Mr. Wagner died.  In 1919, she went to California, where she resided for several years.

 

She returned to Wisconsin in 1928, and was married to Fred Maeder in the Mission Church near Black River Falls. Following her second marriage, she and her husband were engaged in farming near Humbird.  Mr. Maeder died in 1964.  Mrs. Maeder has been a resident of Memorial Home for the last three years.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Freda Ward of Spokane, Wash.; three step-daughters, Mrs. L. W. (Frieda) Bolling of Milwaukee, Mrs. G. B. (Anna) Hutmacher and Mrs. Leonard (Ida) Otte of Freeport, Ill.; and by four step-sons, John Blank of Freeport, Ill.; Alfred Blank and Ernest Maeder of Milwaukee, and Fred Maeder of Fenwood.

 

Mrs. Maeder was a member of the United Church in Humbird.

 

Pallbearers were: Herman Mayer, Herman and Arthur Laffe, Charles Kaufmann, George Dimmitt and Ed Pflieger.  Edward Maeder, a grandson, sang, "Abide with me" and "Nearer My God to Thee".

 

People from out of town here for the service were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Maeder of Fenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Meyer and Edward Maeder of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Strahm, Mr. and Mrs. L. Otte, and Mrs. Edward Hutmacher of Freeport, Ill.; Ernest Maeder, Alfred Blank and Kenneth Bolling and Mrs. Frieda Bolling, all of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne Kaufmann of Fairchild; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Van Horn and Mrs. Kate Van Horn of Alma Center.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.
