Mews, Yvonne (Marriage - 25 June 1966)

A solemn high mass in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal solemnized the marriage of Miss Yvonne Mews of Milwaukee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Mews, Sr., of Spencer, and Stephen McNeely, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray McNeely of Loyal, Rt. 1.  The double ring ceremony was solemnized by the Rev. L. J. Schevver of Milwaukee; the Rev. Norbert E. King of Loyal, and the Rev. E. Bertz of La Crosse.

Pews were marked with large white satin bows and chrysanthemums. The altar bouquets were made up of white chrysanthemums and yellow gladioli.

Three hundred guests witnessed as Mr. Mews gave his daughter in marriage.

For her wedding the bride selected a floor length gown of embroidered lace and silk organza, enhanced with short sleeves and a scoop neckline, with lace appliqué on the bodice and down the front of the skirt.  A bow at the center back held a soft, flowing chapel train. A pearlized crown of flowers held her three-tier silk illusion fingertip veil, and her detachable chapel length veil.  She carried a bouquet of three white orchids and stephanotis.

Miss Diane Mews of Spencer was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Mary McNeely of Loyal, Miss Ardelle Dahlke of Cary, Ill., and Miss Paula Davel of Milwaukee. The attendants wore matching long spring green linen gowns, fashioned with wheat and moss velvet bows at empire waistlines. Sweep trains cascaded from A-line styled skirts. They carried colonial type arrangements of white daisies and matching spring green netting.  Clusters of white daisies and matching spring green netting styled the headpieces.

Bestman was Michael McNeely of Loyal. Groomsmen were Harvey Mews, Jr., of Milwaukee, Pat McNeely of Loyal and Alan Tesmer of Spencer.  Junior ushers were Tracy Jon Mews, 8, and John McNeely, 7.

Nuptial music was furnished by St. Anthony’s choir. Special music was sung as the bride placed a bouquet of sweetheart roses at the feet of the Virgin Mary.

Mr. and Mrs. McNeely are on a three-week wedding trip into western United States and Hawaii. They will reside in Loyal.

Mr. McNeely is a 1963 graduate of Loyal High School.  He attended Wisconsin State University-River Falls for two years.  He is engaged in farming.  Mrs. McNeely, also a 1963 graduate of Loyal High School, has been employed as a medical secretary at Milwaukee County General Hospital.

A brother of the bride, Leslie Mews, who has been in Germany, was able to be home for the wedding. After a leave at home he will go to Ft. Bragg, N. C., for special training and from there will go to Vietnam.
