Brandsness, Josephine (10 JUL 1875 - 4 OCT 1962)

Mrs. Josephine Brandsness, 87, a resident of Stanley, died at Victory Memorial Hospital Thursday morning at 1:50 o’clock.

Mrs. Brandsness was born Josephine Hanson in Norway, July 10, 1875. She came to the United States at the age of seven and settled at Porters Mills. When 15 years of age she moved to Stanley, where she had since resided. Her marriage to Anton Brandsness took place in Stanley in 1890. He passed away Feb. 18, 1954.

Surviving are two sons, Hjalmer of Thorp and Carl of Stanley; five daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Sneen, Mrs. Zeno (Lillian) Caswell, and Mrs. Harley (Nora) Nerdrum, all of Stanley, Mrs. Melvin (Helga) Bjornstad of Owen and Mrs. Alvin (Mabel) Farmer, Eau Claire; 31 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sons.

Mrs. Brandsness was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Stanley, the Ladies Aid and Norse Mission Society.
