Cole, Glenn (25 July 1923-01 Nov 1960)

Glenn H. Cole, 37, of Clinton, Iowa, general manager of Sanitary Farm Dairies, died suddenly in his home Tuesday morning, November1. Services were held Thursday afternoon at the Snell-Smith funeral home in Clinton.

Mr. Cole was born July 25, 1923, in the Town of Freemont, Clark County, the son of Harry E. and Ernestine Beilke Cole. He was educated in the Heathville school, Marshfield High School, Granton High School and was graduated from Loyal High School. He attended Wisconsin State College at River Falls for two years and then went to Lawrence college in Appleton as a member of the Navy V-12 program and to midshipman’s school at Columbia University, New York City. He served during World ll as Lt. (j.g.) in the Pacific & received the B. S. degree in Dairy industry from the University of Wisconsin following the war. While at the University he was elected to Alpha Zeta, national honorary dairy fraternity.

He was married June 1, 1945 to Astyre Hammer of Appleton, and came to Clinton 10 years ago to become the plant manager for Sanitary Farm Dairies. He was a member of the First Congregational church, Western Star Lodge 100, A. F. & A. M., the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club and Lions Club.

Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Star Marie; three sons, Nielson, Curtlin and Brenton; his mother, Mrs. Harry Cole of Loyal, a sister, Mrs. Chester (Marian) Meissner of Richland Center, and a brother Donald of Loyal. His father preceded him in death.

Masonic rites were conducted by Western Star Lodge at the funeral home and military rites at the graveside by June Van Meter Post, American Legion.
