Szczesniak, Gertrude (1 JUN 1963)

Orange, aqua and white mums were on the altar of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, Lublin for the marriage of Miss Gertrude Szczesniak and Klayton Micke on Saturday, June 1st, 1963. Father Edward Cyz performed the marriage ceremony and High Mass at ten a.m. and the organ music was by Theresa Millieren.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Savery Szczesniak, Withee and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Micke, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.)

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore traditional bridal gown of fine hand clipped rosepoint lace over white faille taffeta with a train. The molded bodice of the lovely gown carved to a V at the center of the waistline and was styled with a scalloped Sabrina neckline, embroidered with iridescent sequins and tiny seed pearls. The long lace sleeves tapered to points over the wrists where they were secured. The all lace skirt was shirred at the waist and was styled with the front, a double ruffled, of which the top one had sequin embroidery. The back had one long ruffle and two smaller tiers at the bottom.

The bridal veil of imported English silk illusion in fingertip length was secured to a rhinestone band crown with crystal and pearl spikes and a pearl heart in the center. She carried a bouquet of red and white roses.

Lorri Szczesniak was her sisters maid of honor and bridesmaids were Mrs. Wm. Dmytro, sister of the bride, and Miss Karen Micke, sister of the groom. Miss Judy Gosse, a friend of the attendants, was flower girl. The attendants wore pure silk organza dresses with long overskirts in aqua. The bodices were styled with 3/4 length sleeves and scoop neckline. Over the slim skirt were side wrap overskirts accented with a bow at the waist. They wore hats with organza bows in a wreath effect and a cluster of flowers in front. A tiny pouf veil was attached. They bouquets consisted of white and aqua mums.

Doug Missling, a friend, was best man and groomsmen were John Gindt, cousin of the groom, and Bill Dmytro, a brother-in-law. Bob Dmytro was ring vearer and ushers were Bennie Szczesniak and Ben Kmiec.

Bells and aqua and white crepe paper decorated the church hall for the dinner and reception. A wedding dance was held at the Owen Legion Hall with music by the Jolly Polkateers.

The bride, a graduate of Owen-Withee High School, is a teacher at Flambeau Schools, Sheldon. The groom also attended Owen-Withee School and is a truck driver for Ray Wagner Feed Mill, Owen.

After a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin, the new couple will make their home at Longwood.
