Smith, Mary (12 SEP 1878 - 14 NOV 1963)

Funeral services were held Saturday morning, Nov. 16th at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Thorp, for Mrs. Mary Smith, 85, who died of a heart attack Thursday morning, Nov. 14, 1963 at her home. The Rev. Francis Brockman officiated and burial was made in the parish cemetery.

The former Mary Ramer was born Sept. 12, 1878 in Austria, Germany, coming to America in 1882. Her marriage to Jake Smith, who preceded her in death, took place at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church on May 31, 1905. After their marriage they lived on a farm for about 30 years, then retired and moved to the city of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), where they engaged in a small truck farming business.

She is survived by a son, Lawrence, Thorp, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
