Johnson, Shirley, (09 Dec 1931-04 Sept 2012)

Shirley A. Johnson, 80, Spencer, went home to our heavenly father on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Greenwood. Rev. Brian Campbell officiated. Pall bearers were her grandsons and nephews.

Shirley McDonald was born on Dec. 9, 1931, in Missouri, the daughter of Elliot and Missouri Ida Jarrett) McDaniel. She received her education in Coffman Grade School. After completing her education, she worked in St. Louis for an airplane company assembling parts. She married Calvin “Kelly” McDonald on Dec. 17, 1953, in Farmington, Mo. They moved to Loyal in September 1960 and ran a family farm until Kelly passed away on Feb. 26, 1984. She moved to Spencer wher she got her drivers licence and her GED. She then worked for Fiskars for about 10 years until her retirement. Shirley’s hobbies included sewing and alterations for people, crocheting, baking and playing Uno with her grandson, Wesley, and great-grandson, Drake. She was a very generous lady and loved by all who met her. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Sue Johnson, Spencer, and her son, Ron (Annette) Johnson, Spencer; her grandsons, Shaun (Heather) Johnson, Spencer, Brandon (fiance Jamie Rahn) Johnson, Green Leaf, and Wesley (fiance Sara Krier) Johnson, Spencer; her great grandson, Drake, Spencer, and her step great granddaughter, Jordon Dombrowicki, Green Leaf; and her siblings, Helen McDaniel, Farmington, Mo., Rita (Glen) Weigenstein, Georgetown, Texas, Barb (Ron) Straughan, Farmington, Mo., and Mike McDaniel, Farminfton, Mo.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Calvin; a brother, Elbert McDonald; and two sisters-in-law, Cindy McDaniel and Sally McDaniel.
