Arndt, Raymond A. (18 March 1910 - 29 June 1967)

Funeral services were held Monday from the United Church in Neillsville for Raymond A. Arndt, 57, of Thorp, who died last Thursday in Thorp. The Rev. W. C. Koehler officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Arndt was born March 18, 1910, in Clark County, son of the late August and Rose (Sternitzky) Arndt. He attended Neillsville schools and was graduated from Neillsville High School in 1928. He attended the short course in agriculture at the University of Wisconsin. On September 29, 1945, he was married to the former Marian Huntley in Neillsville.

He worked in Milwaukee a few years, returning to this area, where he was employed by the Clark Electric Cooperative at Greenwood. He had been with the Dairyland Power Cooperative since 1949. The Arndts moved from Neillsville to Thorp in 1951.

He was a member of the Stanley Chapter, No. 128, Order of Eastern Star; Thorp Lodge, No. 264, Free and Associated Masons, of which he was a past master; Neillsville Commandery, No. 30, Knights Templar; and Loyal Order of Moose, No. 680, of Thorp. He also was a past patron of the Order of Eastern Star.

Masonic and Eastern Star services were held Sunday evening at the Georgas Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Gene Zaeske of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. James (Alice) McDonough of Redding, Cal., and Mrs. Ernest (Emily) Lynch of Arroyo Grande, Cal.; three brothers, Herbert of Portland, Ore., Chester of Hailey, Ida., and Ervin of Gerber, Cal.; and by two grandchildren.

(Pallbearers were: one missing name), Dale Schultz, Bill Nourse, Tobert Bodamer, Milo Mabie and Loren Bertelsen. “Beyond the sunset” was sung by Mrs. Heron Van Gorden, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

People from away attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lynch of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; Mrs. W. M. George, B. A. George of Turtle Lake; Mrs. Esther Scribner of Cumberland; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Zaeske and daughters of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Archie Amo of Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Loren Bertelsen of Madison; Nellie Mae Mertes of Menomonie; Mr. and Mrs. Al Hovey of Green Bay; and Mr. and Mrs. John Schaller of Eau Claire.

Many others came from Stanley, Thorp, Greenwood, Marshfield, Merrillan, Granton, Chili and surrounding areas.
