Riedel, Clifford R. (15 FEB 1926 - 17 NOV 2012)

Clifford R. "Cliff" Riedel, 86, Marshfield, entered his eternal rest on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Grace Lutheran Church, Nasonville, with Pastor Jordan Scott officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery and his grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until service time at Grace Lutheran Church.

Cliff was born on February 15, 1926 to Arthur and Mamie (Schmidt) Riedel at home in the Town of Lynn, Clark County. He was a 1944 graduate of Granton High School. During the summer of his senior year he hitchhiked to Woodstock, IL where he worked in an ammunition factory, returning late in the school year to graduate from high school. For many years he and his dad had a tree nursery and landscaping business. He was a hard working guy who could fix anything.

On April 21, 1948 he married Dorothy Seehafer at St. John Lutheran Church, Nasonville, now Grace Lutheran Church. He purchased a small farm in the Granton area and during the winter he worked at Roddis Corporation, now Marshfield Door Systems. Ten years later he sold the farm and purchased his brothers farm in the Nasonville area. It was then that he began selling and installing farm equipment and silos. As the business grew he sold the farm and purchased land in the Town of Cameron where he designed and built the home the family has lived in for 48 years. He was an excellent artist, which he put to good use both in the landscaping business, feed lots and his home.

Cliff was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where he held many offices, including president of the church. For several years he was the Sunday School Superintendant and was the church sexton for over 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy and their children, Dennis (Joan) Riedel, Neil (Paulette) Riedel, all of Marshfield, Julene (Phil) Hannifan of Verona, Scott Riedel of Marshfield, Kevin Riedel of Stratford, and Dean (Cheryl) Riedel of Eden Prairie, MN. He is also survived by grandchildren, Nathan (friend - Erin) Riedel, Christopher (Katie) Riedel, Angela (Randy) Montalvo, Breanna (Justin) VanDeHey, Chelsie (Andy) Rennicke, Lauren Hannifan, Ryan Hannifan, Kayleigh Hannifan, Mikaela Riedel, and Samuel Riedel, and great grandchildren, Branden Montalvo, Alex Montalvo, Trey Montalvo, Evan Rennicke and Kaden Krause. He is further survived by twin brothers, Don (Julie) Riedel of Loveland, CO, and Dale (Gloria) Riedel of Chili, and a sister-in-law, Esther Riedel of Marshfield and a brother-in-law, Don (Jean) Seehafer of Manitowoc.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Russel and a brother, Lloyd.

A memorial in Cliff's name will be determined at a later date.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at the House of the Dove for their loving care.
