Trinity Lutheran Church of Athens was the setting for the repeating of marriage promises between Miss Natalie Schmitt and Marvin Venzke, Saturday afternoon, June 29, 1963.

Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Schmitt, route 3, Athens, and Henry Venzke, route 1, Athens, and Mrs. Elsie Venzke of Rochester, Minn.

The Rev. Herman Schedler read the service at 1:30, Melvin Ewan was the soloist and Mrs. Melvin Schmidt, the accompanist.

The bride wore a gown of rosepoint lace and tulle detailed with lace and sequins at the neckline and lace roses on the front of the tiered skirt that ended in a train in the back. Crystals, pearls and rhinestones formed the crown which held her veil. She carried a bouquets that was made with an orchid, yellow roses and white carnations.

Attending her as maid of honor, was Miss Sharlene Schmitt of Athens, and as bridesmaids, Mrs. Thomas Venzke of Athens, Miss Margaret Swell of Madison, and Miss Kathleen Koehler of Edgar.

Lavender was the principal color theme for the attendant's ensemble. White dotted Swiss over lavender taffeta was chosen for the maid of honor and solid lavender for the bridesmaids dresses and for their pearl trimmed headpieces. They carried boqueuts of lavender and white daisies.

James Laabs served as best man, Thomas Venzke and Orland and Duane Schmitt of Athens were groomsmen. James Venzke of Colby and Gary Schultz of Athens seated the guests at the church.

Supper was served in the church parlor and a dance was held at Prochnow's Ballroom.

The bridegroom, a graduate of the Abbotsford High School, is engaged in farming. The new Mrs. Venzke is a graduate of the Athens High School.
