Nichols (Hutchins), Eliza Frances (12 JULY 1875 – 17 FEB 1963)

Mrs. Eliza Nichols, 87 of Marshfield, formerly of Loyal, died Sunday at 8:10 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been a patient for three weeks.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, February 20 at the Hansen Funeral Chapel by Rev. Wesley Dafoe and burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery.

The former Eliza Frances Hutchins was born July 12, 1875, in Dundee, Fond du Lac County and received her education there and in the town of Sherman, Clark County.  At the age of 11 she came to Clark County with her parents.  On March 16, 1894, she was married to Henry Nichols in the township of Unity.  The couple farmed near Loyal until his death on June 20, 1920.  Mrs. Nichols then moved to Loyal where she resided until 20 years ago when she moved to Marshfield to live with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Smith.  She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Homer (Evelyn) Smith, Marshfield; Mrs. William (Geneva) Erickson, Curtiss; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Charles (Anna) Smith, Rapid City, South Dakota; Mrs. Ben (Evelyn) Dietsche, Spencer and Mrs. Jesse (Lela) Lyon, Hingham, Montana.  Her husband and four brothers preceded her in death.
