 Haas, Robert (26 FEB 1887 - 18 AUG 1964)

Funeral services were held at St. Bernard's Church, Thorp, on Friday, August 21 for Robert Haas, 77, who passed away of a heart attack on Tuesday, August 18th. Rev, Francis Brockman officiated at the ten a.m. service and burial was in St. Bernard's cemetery. He had been in ill health for several years. He was on route to St. Joseph's Hospital and passed away near Stanley and was taken to Stanley hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Pallbearers were: John Maier, Alex Soeller, Alex Markowski, Joe Benzschawel, Ray Ketterhagen and Gilbert Voelker.

Mr. Haas, a retired farmer, was born on February 26, 1887 at Charleston, Wis. He was married to Irene Baures on October 10, '17 at St. Bernard's Church at Thorp. They lived on a farm south of Thorp until March of 1958 when he retired and moved to the city of Thorp.

Surviving are six sons, Melvin, Wilfred and Richard all of Thorp, Wayne of Stanley, Arnold of Sheboygan and Gerald of Tacoma, Wash.; four daughters, (Virginia) Mrs. Loren Mullison of Denver, Colo.; Marie of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; (Coletta) Mrs. Elroy Hurth of Cadott, (Theresa) Mrs. Robert Smith of Thorp; two brothers, Joe of Stanley and Casper of Thorp; two sisters, Anna and Margaret of Thorp and 31 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, who passed away July 26, 1959, one brother George and three sisters, Amelia, Elizabeth and Bertha.

Out of town friends and relatives were from Wausau, Fairchild, Black River Falls, Arcadia, Fountain City, Menominee, Stanley, Chippewa Falls, Spencer, Galesville, Cadott, Edson, Neillsville and Medford, Wisconsin and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
