Wentworth, Ella A. (29-Jun-1870)

Married, in Portage city June 29, 1870, at the residence of the bride's father, by Rev. J. H. Ritchey, Joseph B. Carr, of Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., to Ella A, eldest daughter of R. B. Wentworth.

(The following complimentary notice from the Portage Register we take pleasure in inserting. Our sympathies wholly lie in the direction of newly married men. May the new couple enjoy all the bliss possible with the thermometer at 105 in the shade.)
On Wednesday afternoon last, a wedding took place in our city which, from the high social position of the parties, was anticipated with more than ordinary interest. The parties were Miss Ella A. Wentworth, eldest daughter of Hon. R. B. Wentworth, and Joseph S. Carr of Neillsville, Wis., and son of Samuel Carr, Esq., of Dekora. The rites were performed at the residence of the bride's father, by Rev. Mr. Ritchey, in accordance with the nuptial ceremonies of the Presbyterian Church. A very large circle of friends was in attendance to witness the ceremony, and a large number of bridal presents were bestowed on the happy couple. The bride was one of Portage's fairest and most accomplished daughters, and while the best wishes of all acquaintances accompany his and her to their new home, there was a very general feeling of regret that Portage society was to be deprived of one who so much adorned it. Mr. Carr is a talented and rising young lawyer, and is a worthy possessor of the fair prize he has won. No young couple ever entered into newly married life with more and hearty wishes for their pure welfare than the couple here was atoned.
