Last Monday Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rossman entertained Mr. and Mrs. Jake Klein of the town of Beaver and Mrs. John Klein of Waukesha who is visiting her town of Beaver relatives while her husband is taking in the hunting season hereabouts. Mrs. Klein is spending a few days at the Rossman home.

Researcher Added Notes

Our Rossmans were in Greenwood and Neillsville. Various Kleins worked at the Rossman sawmill in the Township of Beaver, off and on. This social notice on the deer hunting season visit of "Uncle John", my grandfather Richard's uncle, adds a nice footnote. John Klein from Waukesha was only 10 when his father, Georg brought the family in 1871. John was with his father when a tree fell on his leg in Jan., 1875 in the Township of Loyal. Georg died that night in excruciating pain, from loss of blood. One newspaper account all but accused the local doctor of murder. Son John opened a meat market in Waukesha in 1900 and my grandfather Richard worked with him and bought him out when he retired. That's how it happened that my father was born in Waukesha, 1909. The next year, Richard moved back to Beaver until 1921, when my grandmother (a city girl) had enough and they moved back to Waukesha.
