Cochran, Cutis G. (1921 - 1982)
Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 21, at the
Assembly of God Church, Neillsville, for Curtis G. Cochran, 61,
Route 1, Granton, Clark County.
Mr. Cochran died at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 17, at St. Joseph's
Hospital, Marshfield.
Officiating was Rev. Edwin Gungor of Faith Christian Church,
Marshfield. Burial was in the Town of Lynn Cemetery.
Curtis Cochran was born at Quimby, Iowa, to Floyd G. and Marie (nee
Swearting) Cochran, on July 15, 1921. He received his education in
Iowa, graduating from high school at Poplar, Wis.
He was employed for a short time before entering the Armed Forces
during World War II. He was among the first paratroopers that were
sent to England, and later transferred to the Air Force and flew 30
missions over Germany.
He received many decorations during his years in the service. After
being discharged he owned and operated a tire recapping plant in
Oregon for several years.
He then moved to Colorado, where he farmed for a short time before
moving to California, where he was in the car business.
After coming to Clark County, he operated the United Farm Agency, a
real estate business, for a number of years. He had also served as
district manager for Strout Realty for several years, and at the
time of his death was a field representative for Lynn Dairy.
He and Marjorie Smith were married at Hitchen, England, on March 1,
1944.
He was a member of Faith Christian Church, Marshfield.
Surviving him are his wife, Marjorie three daughters, Mrs. Michael
(Judy) Murphy, Sutter, Cal., Mrs. Richard (Jerry) Roberts, Chico
Cal., and Mrs. Rodney (Debbie) Hemp of Clayton, Wis. one son, Floyd
G., Greenwood two sisters, Mrs. June Rowe, Twain Harte, Cal. And
Mrs. Floydetta Delbianco of Haywood, Cal. two brothers, Robert of
Las Vegas, Nev. And Harold of Yuba City, Cal. his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Floyd Cochran of Yuba City, Cal. and six grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was one sister, Lorraine.
Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, handled arrangements.
