Bentzler, Leona (10 AUG 1902 - 6 FEB 1985)


Leona Bentzler, 82, of Loyal, Clark County, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 1985 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 1985 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Officiating was Rev. James J. Logan. Burial was in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Sons were pallbearers.

She was born Aug. 10, 1902 in Loyal to Louis and Mary (Nee Motchenbacher) Schweiger. She received her education in St. Balthasar School, Loyal, and Loyal High School. Prior to her marriage she was employed at Bart Restaurant in Loyal.

On April 19, 1922, she married George Bentzler in St. Balthasar Catholic Church, Loyal. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary June 24, 1972 and their 60th in 1982. They farmed in the Town of Loyal until four years ago, when they moved to the City of Loyal.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the Parish Council of Catholic women and the American Legion Auxiliary of Loyal.

Surviving are her husband, George eight sons, Laverne "Bud" of Milwaukee, Garland of Loyal, Jerome of Sun Prairie, Donald of Marshfield, George Jr. of Milwaukee, Edward of North Rochester, N.H., Raymond of Hartford and Kenneth of Caroline six daughters, Mrs. John (Virginia) Grutzik of Pittsville, Mrs. Myron (Mary) Burkhardt of Las Vegas, Nev., Mrs. Irban (Leona) Aumann of Loyal, Mrs. Dick (Darlene) Lasch of South Bend, Ind., Mrs. Ronald (Kathleen) Froeba of Loyal and Mrs. Ron (Janet) Fruehbrodt of Marshfield 49 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy one brother, Aaron one sister, Annie and two grandsons.

Rinka Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
