Walde, Lewis Sr. (27 JUL 1916 - 9 OCT 2001)


Lewis F. Walde Sr., 85, Greenwood, Clark County, died on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, at the Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood. The Rev. Terri Bloomberg officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Boe, Ryan Boe, Dale Walde, Donald Walde, Thomas Frueh and Douglas Hansen.

Lewis Fredrick Walde was born on July 27, 1916, in Ridge Creek, Eau Claire County, to Emil and Gladys (nee Sheldon) Walde. He received his education in the rural Augusta area. He married Evelyn Ohnemus on Feb. 20, 1939. They resided in Eau Claire for a short time before moving to Milwaukee, where they lived until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1945. After his honorable discharge in 1946, they moved to rural Greenwood. He worked for Clark Electric for 25 years until his retirement in 1981. They then moved to Phillips for a few years before returning to the Greenwood area. His interests included his grandchildren and family, fishing, hunting, traveling, camping and playing accordion.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna (James) Boe, Phillips one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Walde, Greenwood five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren two sisters, Alice Vogler, Chippewa Falls, and Marian Schauer, Fall Creek and one brother, Everett Walde, Eleva.

Preceding him in death were his parents his wife Evelyn, on Jan. 1, 1997 a son, Lewis Walde Jr. and one brother, Carl.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
