Canney, Marie (23 JUL 1908 - 31 JAN 1984)


Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Canney, 75, of 1303 Fremont St., Algoma, were at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 3, 1984, at St. Mary's Church, Algoma.

Mrs. Canney died on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 31, 1984, at Algoma Memorial Hospital.

Officiating at the service was Rev. Michael Clifford. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Wiesner-Massart Funeral Home, Algoma, handled arrangements.

Marie Davel was born to Albert and Florence (nee Baker) Davel on July 23, 1908, at Loyal, Clark County. She and W. Scott Canney were married at Loyal on Aug. 12, 1935. After her graduation from Stevens Point Teachers College, she taught school five years before the couple moved to Algoma.

Surviving her are four daughters, Judy Zerves of Minneapolis Mrs. Dan (Jan) Krause of Cedar Falls, Iowa Mrs. Jack (Jill) Prokash of Algoma Mrs. Paul (Jo Ann) Vanderbloemen of Madison 13 grandchildren seven sisters, Evelyn Nolan of Minneapolis, Gert Phair of Oshkosh Martina Davel and Katherine Bobb, both of Orlando, Fla. Madeline Krawczyk of Pulaski Jane Simpson of Minneapolis and Dorothy Schmook of Madison one brother, Edward Davel, Lombard, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 13, 1977 her parents and two brothers.
