Granton (21 December 1967)

Granton Schools closed Wednesday at close of classes for Christmas vacation. Classes will be resumed January 2, 1968.

Mrs. Fred Steinich of Menomonee Falls spent last week with her mother, Mrs. Bert Hayden.

Mr. and Mrs. William Schmidtke have returned home from a five-week vacation trip to Lakeland, Fla. Enroute there, they visited her brother and wife in Chattanooga, Tenn. On their way home they visited in Rockford, Ill., with her sister, Mrs. Eskil Erickson and her nephew, Gene Turner and family.

The band and chorus of the Granton School, under the leadership of their music instructor, presented a concert Sunday afternoon in the school auditorium.

Mrs. Leona Treu of Appleton is spending this week and Christmas with her sisters, Rosetta Meyer and Anita Landgraf. On Saturday, Mrs. Treu and her sisters accompanied Mr. and Mrs. William Meyer of Marshfield to Athens, where they attended the wedding of their cousin, John Habeck.

Mrs. J. J. Weaver of Wisconsin Rapids is leaving later this week for her home after spending last week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe Dachal, and caring for the home while Mrs. Dachal and a new baby were in the hospital.

Final practice by the Sunday school children of the Methodist Church will be held Saturday with a noon lunch for the children. The children’s Christmas program will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday
