Vogel, Joseph#2 (01 OCT 18893– 18 OCT 1963)

Joseph Vogel, age 74, died Friday, October 18 at 6 a.m. at the Clark County Hospital at Owen.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Myre Funeral Home.  The Reverend Paul Doering of the Loyal Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery.

Two hymns were sung by Mrs. Paul Doering “Be Still My Soul’ and “nearer My God to Thee”.  Mrs. Doering was accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Harold Collinson.

Active pallbearers were Ted Welsh, Everett Helms, Julius Ehlert, Frank Schwanke, Henry Boe and Archie Smith.

Joseph Vogel was born October 1, 1889 at Hewitt, and as a young man came to Loyal with his parents.  He was married to Nellie May Sischo at the Spencer Methodist Church in 1915.  He worked as a carpenter in the Loyal area until 1943, when they moved to Milwaukee, where he was employed at the Miller Brewing Company until 1956, when he retired and moved back to Loyal.

Mr. Vogel is survived by his wife, a step-daughter, Mrs. Ione Sommers, Loyal; two brothers, Matt, Loyal; and Louis, Greenwood; three sisters, Mrs. Harry (Carrie) Robinson, Mrs. William(Maggie) Welsh, Montana; and Mrs. Kate Pope, Loyal.
