Plank, Sylvester (24 February 1880 - 5 February 1968)

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home for Sylvester Plank, 87, of Neillsville and longtime Greenwood area resident who died here Monday. The Rev. W. C. Koehler of the United Church of Christ officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Plank was born February 24, 1880, in Mineral Point, where he attended school. Following his marriage on March 19, 1902, in Mineral Point to the former Pearl Callow, he operated a farm in the Mineral Point area. The family came to Clark County in 1921 and located on a farm near Greenwood. They retired in 1960, when they moved to Neillsville. Mrs. Plank died in 1965.

He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Helen Francis of Neillsville, Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Neuenfeldt of Spencer, Mrs. Mildred Carney of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. John (Margaret) Richards of Mt. Prospect, Ill. Other survivors include eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Sylvester Plank, 87, were held February 7 from the Georgas Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev. W. C. Koehler of the United Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: John Neuenfeldt, Bruce and Rick Neuenfeldt, James Carney, David Richards and Harris Schoengarth. Mrs. W. C. Koehler sang, “In the Garden” and “Nearer My God to Thee,” accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

People from away here for the funeral included: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Neuenfeldt and Rick of Spencer; Mrs. Mildred Carney and James Carney of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. John Richards of Mt. Prospect, Ill.; David Richards, WSMC, Mt. Prospect, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. John Neuenfeldt of Menomonie; and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Neuenfeldt of Thorp.

From Greenwood were: Mr. and Mrs. Jim Engebretson, Jim Krogness, Mrs. Eleanore Plank, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Trampush, Mrs. Anita Miller, Mrs. Jerome Bertz, Mrs. Arnst Molle, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Severson, Mrs. Jake Barr and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Dyre.
