Lyle W. Doehr, 91, Marshfield, was peacefully taken to his eternal home with Jesus on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 18, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, and again on Saturday, Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Chili. Rev. Dan Schoessow will officiate.

Lyle Doehr was born on May 22, 1921, in Fairchild, the son of Werner and Mabel (nee Bequette) Doehr. He lived in Marshfield and Kingsford, Mich., during the first five years of his life. He then moved to Milwaukee, where he was active playing his violin in the Juneau High School String Orchestra, the All City Orchestra and the All City String Orchestra. In 1938, he moved to the Marshfield area with his family and graduated from Marshfield High School. On Dec. 18. 1941, he married Hazel Beil at the Zion Lutheran Church Parsonage, Granton. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Chili area until 1981. He also worked several other jobs, including driving school bus for 22 years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran in Chili. Lyle always found time for his fun activities. Fishing was his favorite pastime. He also loved to go deer hunting and snowmobiling. Lyle and Hazel had fun on many camping excursions and numerous trips including going out west, to Hawaii, Alaska and Taiwan. He loved to play cards and won most of the time. He had resided at the Marshfield care Center, the past eight months. He had a great sense of humor to the end.

Survivors include Hazel, his wife of 71 years; their four children, Lou Ann (Russel) Lang, Marshfield, Lana Metko, Menasha, Becky Rand, Avon, Minn., and Daryl (Denise) Doehr, Wyoming, Minn., 13 grandchildren, Tim (Lisa) Lang, Wauwautosa. Jayne (Randy) Frahmann, Marshfield, Amy (Erick) Rodriguez, Pasadena, Calif., Rachel (Daniel) Nash, Monroe, La., Edwin (Heidi) Lang, Monroe, La., Bethany (David) Gorski, Boulder, Colo., Troy (Susan0 Metko, Appleton, Ryan (Jenny) Metko, Brillion, Jonathon Rand, St Cloud, Minn., Heather (Steven) Croucher, Levenworth, Kansas, Elizabeth Bieglow, Monticello, Minn., Charles Doehr. Duluth, Minn., and Joseph Doehr, St. Cloud, Minn.; 29 grandchildren, including Trevor, Shelby and Mateo Lang, Andrew Frahmann, Brittany Altamirano, Erick Rodriguez, Hannah, James, Calab, Esther, Abigal, Naomi.Rebekah, and Hope Nash, Megan , Morgan Cameron, Carter, and Miles Lang, Aldons Gorski, Ian, Jana, Sara and Sean Metko, Grace and Alex Metko, Samuel Croucher and Logan and Layla Bigelow; one nephew; six nieces; and a special friend and fishing buddy, Harley Loos.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gary Rand; his sister, Evelyn (Lucien) Moh; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arwin Beil, Hilda and Harold Montag, and Esther and Gerald Dankemyer and many dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the International Student Ministries in Stevens Point or the Lutheran Hour Ministries.
