Gerald Stocker Killed in Accident

Gerald Stocker, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stocker, Neenah, and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Sommers was hurt so badly in a car accident Saturday evening near Slinger, Wisconsin, that he passed away late Sunday afternoon in the hospital at Hartford, Wisconsin.

From meager news received Sunday afternoon by Mr. and Mrs. Sommers, Jerry, as he was familiarly known, was riding in the rear seat of a car enroute to Milwaukee with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. (Betty Anne) Robert Delfosse when they struck a snow bank. While Mr. and Mrs. Delfosse got out to wave down an on coming car, it seems, Jerry, who had dozed off in the back seat, awoke and got out to see what the matter was, and stepped into the path of the other car. Although injured severely, he lived through the night and passed away Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Sommers left on No. 18 Sunday night for Neenah.

Besides his parents he leaves one sister, Betty Ann, his grand parents and an uncle, Otto Sommers Jr. of Milwaukee.

We hope to have a more detailed account in the next week’s issue.

Jerry is so well known in Spencer as he and his sister spent nearly all of their summer here with their grandparents, that all of Spencer will mourn with his parents, sister and grandparents in their deep sorrow.
