Ed and Fred Dennis went to Eau Claire Friday and spent a couple days with their mother who has been in the hospital there for the past two weeks.  They report her to be doing nicely and well on the road to speedy recovery.  Master Fred being of an inquisitive turn of mind and investigating the working of a cigar clip suffered the loss of the tip end of a finger and came home with the injured member professionally done up, a vivid reminder of his visit in the hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Arnold of Abernatha, Texas, with their two youngest children, Leslie and Amanda who have been visiting his sister Mrs. Norman Hallock at Hawthorne and his nephew Ben Hallock near Chili passed through here Saturday enroute to Neillsville, thence to Black River Falls and other Jackson County points for further visiting before returning home.

Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Moh entertained Rev. and Mrs. Hasz, Mr. and Mrs. John Rimberger, Mrs. Ameila Reichert, her sons Ferdinand and Alvin, Miss Appolonia Cornelius, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schlinsog, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Batch, the Misses Elinora and Frieda Williams and Amelia Trimburger at dinner last Sunday evening was reported to have been enjoyed by all in attendance.

Mrs. Howard Erwin returned to Milwaukee last Monday.

Guy Youmans of Neillsville and his uncle Ed French of Los Angeles were callers among friends here Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. Dora Garbush came home from Rochester, Minn., Wednesday.  She reports her son George to be out of the hospital though sill confined to his bed and that in all probability he will have to remain under his physician’s care there for several weeks yet.

Miss Lida Nonhof of Baldwin and her brother who lives in Corona, Cal., stopped off here on their way home from Sheboygan County whiter they had been in attending the funeral of their father, the late D.H. Nonhof on a visit to their brother Al Nonhof who is ill.  The brother continued on his journey home next day, but Lida will remain for a several weeks visit hereabouts.

Louis Gerzemehle is very ill and confined to his bed since Tuesday.

Leonard Cole is enjoying a two weeks vacation here with home folk.

Miss Laura Gerzemehle went to Neillsville, Monday.

Joe Buss transacted business at the county seat Monday.

Miss Clara Drescher spent Saturday here with Miss Laura Gerzemehle.

Mrs. P.M. Ross was at Neillsville, Friday.

Albert Jahr Sundayed at Neillsville.

Miss Elsie Neitzel spent Saturday at home and left for her school work at Merrillan, Sunday.

The Fergie Richter family is entertaining out of town guests since Saturday.

A brand new boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Braatz, Sunday.

Otis Slocomb is a t Madison since Tuesday in session with the Stat Road Commissioners.

Mrs. G.E. Amidon will entertain the Circle next Wednesday at supper.

Miss Elsie Breseman came home from Neillsville to spend Sunday at the parental home.

Mrs. Elizabeth Flamman of Danmark, Wis., after several weeks visit here with her daughter, Mrs. Max Geimer departed for home on Monday.

August Schmoll and P.J. Kemmeter were looking after the bolt business ad Cedarhurst on Monday.

D.A. Gormley of Eau Claire relieved station agent Crandall Saturday and Sunday.

Mrs. Gerzemehle went to Marshfield Saturday and made an over Sunday visit to relatives in that city.

Miss Ora Davis who teaches in the Dankmeyer district near Chili spent the weeks end at home.

John Kintzele was at Neillsville Saturday.

Mrs. Stella Mortimer is home from her weeks visit at Chilton since Saturday.

Guy Hales returned to Madison and his studies there, Sunday.

Geo. Brooks and Henry Pischer transacted business at the county seat on Friday.

Arthur Berg went to Humbird, Saturday.

Fay Livingston and Will Roehl went to Neillsville Saturday evening.

Leo Turner cut his hand on a cross cut saw and has been laid up for two weeks.

Walter Krause is home since last week from a several weeks visit between old friends in Chicago and Milwaukee.

The Misses Anna Teatz and Vivian Tiedeman went to Neillsville Friday and spent the time until Sunday morning attending teachers institute and visiting friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Crandall spent the week end between Eau Claire and strum.

Miss Anna Dyer is here from Eldorada since Saturday night a guest in the Ezra Sherrett home in town of Washburn.

Mrs. Carl Krause entertained a large number of friends at a feather bee, Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Beckett of Fairchild are visiting her sister Mrs. W. Waterpool of the Ridge since last week Wednesday.

Mrs. Geo. Howard and daughter Gertrude will celebrate their birthday together next Sunday and entertain a large company of relatives.

Mrs. Melvina Wright went to Marshfield Wednesday for a months visit between relatives there and at Spokeville.

Will Kurth went to Madison on Tuesday to spend the balance of the week with the State Telephone Commissioners.

F.E. Gotter, Fred Wright, J.B. Daughbetee and Alvin Cole with Ed Nelson of Lindsey were Neillsville visitors, Tuesday.

Geo. Simmons of Cohegan, Mont., after a several weeks visit between the W.J. Thayer home here and relatives at Greenwood and Loyal, departed on the home trip Monday.

W.S. Davis added a registered Guernsey cow and heifer calf to his herd last week.  They were purchased of a Sheboygan Falls party and arrived by express last week, Thursday.

Ivan Kidd of Osseo enroute home from Dexterville where he had been to attend the funeral of an aunt, a Mrs. C.W. Blakeley stopped off here last week Wednesday and made a weeks visit between the Loyal Jordan and Sam Martin homes.

Paul Roder went to Marshfield, Monday.

Mrs. J.M. Tompkins went to Rice Lake Friday on a visit with her son Fred and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Paulson were over from Neillsville last Friday.

Keep in mind the big masquerade at the opera house Sat. night, Feb. 21st.  Music will be furnished by the 2nd Reg. Orchestra of Marshfield.

Knorr and Rausch last week received another car load of Ford cars and another carload is expected to arrive in a few days.

A deal was closed last Tuesday where by Geo. Hart became the owner of the old drug store building having traded his resident property for the same to Williams and Wonser.

Geo. Huff came home from Tripoli last week where he was employed in a lumber camp and has since been confined to his bed sick with the grip.

Chas. Neinas and daughter Lydia went to Edgar Saturday and visited Prof. and Mrs. G.D. Vincent.

Miss Mannila Knickle who is attending the high school at Marshfield came over Saturday and made an over Sunday visit at her brother Elmer Knickle’s home.

LOST: A brown woolen heavy robe, near York Center.  Finder will please return to Neillsville garage and receive reward.  Pete Paulson.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Waterpool and their guests Mr. and Mrs. Beckett Fairchild drove out and spend Monday at Oscar Johnson’s in the town of Lynn.

The Equity will ship stock from Granton and Chili next Monday and Tuesday.  If you have anything call up W.R. Happe.

Herman Schoengarth went to Eau Claire Saturday morning and returned that afternoon with his wife who had been in the hospital there for some time.  Mrs. Schoengarth is considerably improved in health, but is as yet confined to the house.

Miss Lida Scheier came over from Marshfield Saturday and visited her sister Mrs. Emil Krause until Monday noon.

Mr. and Mrs. James Hughes are the proud parents of a brand new boy born to them last Thursday night.

Frank Tompkins who is railroading on the N.P. left for Staples, Minn., Monday to resume his duties on the road.

Miss Hattie Pietenpol and her sister Beatrice went to Humbird last Saturday and made an over Sunday visit at the Dr. Schwartz home.

Miss Nellie Grasser a nurse is caring for Al Nonhof who is suffering with pneumonia, since last week Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Trimburger and children came home last week Thursday from a two weeks visit at Milwaukee, Plymouth and other state points.

Prin. Max Geimer and his mother in law Mrs. Elizabeth Flammang took baby Gelmer to Neillsville last Saturday and had her baptized.  The baptismal name being Helen Anna.

One of Dave Steele’s cows is minus several inches of her tongue since Monday, having had about 2 inches of it bitten off by the horse which occupies the stall next to her.

The Jahr Brothers, Albert and Ed. Last week took possession of the business recently purchased of Geo. Hart.  They are two hustling enterprising young men and News welcomes them to the ranks of our business men.

Miss Mary Grasser who has been in a wholesale millinery house at St. Paul for several weeks past has accepted a position for the spring season in a millinery store at Coppertown, N.Dak. Miss Isabelle Slocomb who is with her at St. Paul has accepted a position for the season at Greenwood, Wis.

A farmers meeting will be held here Monday afternoon for the purpose of organizing an Equity for this vicinity.  Good speakers are engaged for the occasion and all the farmers are requested to be present.  Meeting will be called at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.

Mrs. Delos Raymond was the pleased victim of just the nicest surprise party Tuesday when in honor of her 78th birthday, her son Free and his son Faye, her daughters Maude, Mrs. Ross Paulson and Edna, Mrs. Herb Fradette, with their families came in early in the morning with happiness radiating from their faces and arms laden with good things for a big dinner and spent the day with mother and dad.
