Wilhelmi, Herbert (11 JUL 1903 - 16 JAN 1964)

Herbert Wilhelmi, 60, of 600 S. Spruce Ave., Marshfield, formerly of Abbotsford, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1964 at 8 p.m. at the Richland Center Hospital. Mr. Wilhelmi, who was employed by the Nelson-Jameson Dairy Supply, was unloading supplies in Richland Center on Dec. 31 and was taken to the hospital at Richland Center about 2 a.m. on New Year's Day when he became ill from exposure to the cold. Equipment failure caused him to walk for assistance and he damaged his lungs and taxed his heart in the sub-zero temperatures.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Marshfield, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, of which Mr. Wilhelmi was a member. The Rev. Daniel Ahrens officiated and burial was made in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

Among the pallbearers were two nephews: Kenneth Wilhelmi of Abbotsford, and his brother, Walter Wilhelmi of Florence. The other pallbearers were co-workers of the deceased.

Herbert Wilhelmi was born July 11, 1903 at Abbotsford, where he was education. He was married to Elna Baehr, Nov. 6, 1924 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Dorchester.

They lived at Milwaukee for 21 years and then came to Abbotsford, where they farmed two miles north of Abbotsford and operated the Medo-Farms Dairy. Nine years ago they sold the business and moved to Marshfield where they have since resided.

While living at Abbotsford, Mr. Wilhelmi served on the Pleasant Hill School Board.

He is survived by his wife, at Marshfield; and one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Myrtle) Preller of Green Bay; three grandsons and a brother, Fred Wilhelmi, of Abbotsford.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wilhelmi and Kenneth of Wilhelmi of Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wilhelmi of Florence and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sternhagen of Neenah, attended the funeral. Friends from the Abbotsford area were also at the rites.
