Velek, Barbara (23 SEP 1883 - 30 JAN 1964)

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Barbara Velek Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby. The Rev. John B. Pinion officiated.

Mrs. Velek died at her home in the town of Hull (Marathon Co., Wis.) Thursday morning, Jan. 30, 1964, of a heart attack.

Funeral arrangements were made by Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, and burial was made in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery. A Christian Mother's Society rosary service was held Friday at St. Mary's Church.

Mrs. Velek was born Barbara Machecek in Czechoslovakia in 1883, and came to the United States as a young girl. She married Frank Velek, who preceded her in death in 1954. The couple had come to the town of Hull in 1926, where they farmed until Mr. Velek's death. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby.

She is survived by two sons, John Velek of Chicago and Frank Velek of Colby; two brothers, Jake Machecek, Elkhorn, and Albert Machecek, Riverside, Ill.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
