Warns, John A. "Jack" (22 MAR 1925 - 15 JAN 2013)

John A. "Jack" Warns, age 87, of Abbotsford, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield with his wife and family at his bedside.

Jack was born in the town of Clark in Clark County on March 22, 1925 to the late John and Ethel (Whitbeck) Warns. His education included a small country school later graduating from Withee High School and attended college for one year in Minneapolis. He entered the United States Army in April of 1943. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the area. Early on Jack worked as a diesel mechanic at Western Condensory now known as Foremost Foods.

On November 25, 1950 Jack married Alma "Dolly" Krarup in Owen. Sadly she passed away March 10, 1996.

On September 29, 2001 he married Jean Schultz at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. She survives. Jack retired from Foremost Foods as the plant manager in 1984 and lived in the Neillsville area until 2001. After his marriage to Jean he resided with her in Abbotsford.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting with the bow and rifle, making wood furniture and tending his gardens.

He was a former member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, a current member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Abbotsford and a lifetime member of the Wisconsin Bowhunters.

Survivors include his wife Jean Schultz of Abbotsford; his children: John (Mary) Warns of Puyallup, WA; Peter (Tricia) Warns of Vestal, NY; Patricia (James) Eloranta of Owen; Michael (Benita) Warns of St. Paul, MN; Richard (Kathy) Warns of Beaver Dam; Dennis (Dawn) Warns of Greenville; Elaine (David) Neumann of Green Bay; his stepchildren: Ronald (Kayrene) Schultz of Willard; Bradley Schultz of Cornucopia; Michael (Terri) Schultz of Hayward; Randall (Beth) Schultz of Eau Claire; Linda Hess of Colby and Lisa (Matthew) Erler of Big Lake MN; 34 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Jack is further survived by one sister June Lavine of Eau Claire along with many other relatives and friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Alma and his brother Henry "Bud" Warns.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. The Rev. Gerard Willger will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in the town of Hixon with military honors conducted by members of the O-W Vets Club, Owen American Legion Post 123 and the Lublin American Legion Post 547. Acting as his pallbearers will be his grandsons.
