Rust, Henryetta (June 16, 1917 - August 12, 2008)

Henryetta was born to Kurt Rust and Pauline Thut on June 16, 1917 in the Town of Hammel, Wis.

Henryetta departed this life on August 12, 2008, at 91 years of age.

She received her formal education in the Medford area and graduated from high school from a one-room schoolhouse.

Soon after graduation, Henryetta moved to Chicago, Ill. and enrolled in secretarial college and worked at Burroughs Typewriter and Machine Corporation for several years.

Henryetta joined the United States Women's Army Core in 1943 and honorably served her country with her new gained secretarial skills at a base in St. Louis, Mo., until October 1944.

Henryetta moved back to Chicago, and then Milwaukee a couple of years later to raise her daughter, Sandra.

She reached out to her sister Charlotte and her husband Art Johnson to assist her in providing an opportunity for Sandra to experience the joy and beauty of country and farm living.

Henryetta remained grateful to Charlotte and her family for welcoming her daughter into their family for many wonderful childhood summers.

In 1964 Henryetta moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and lived there for 42 years until returning to Milwaukee in 2006. She loved the warm sunny weather, vast ocean and beautiful beaches of Florida.

Henryetta worked in the restaurant business for over 35 years in both Milwaukee and Fort Lauderdale. She appreciated the flexibility that the profession offered.

Henryetta loved gardening, crafting, taking cruises to the Caribbean and politics. She felt that voting was one of the most important responsibilities of every citizen and made sure she read up on all current candidates and voted in every election except for the last few because she was too ill to do so.

Henryetta believed in God and while she did not attend church on a regular basis, she always believed that she would go to heaven upon her death.

Henryetta leaves to mourn her passing, yet cherish her memory, her beloved and devoted daughter, Sandra (Arthur) Malone; her precious granddaughter, Kim M. Chaffin, grandson, Jeffrey (Karen) Dercole, great-granddaughters, Casey and Alexandra Chaffiin, and great-grandsons, Anthony and Vincent Dercole, all of Milwaukee; sisters, Charlotte Bielke of Medford and Margaret Howe of Reston, Va.; and a host of other relatives.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept., 20 at 11 a.m. at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Pastor Peter Warmanen officiating. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II with graveside committal rites and military rites performed by the Medford Military Honors Team.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name be made to Hope Hospice of Medford and Rib Lake.
