Andresen, Mary Lee (November 23, 1921 - December 26, 2007)

 

Former Medford resident Mary Lee Andresen, 86, Oswego, Ill., died December 26, 2007 at Hillside Care Center, Yorkville, Ill. from complications due to Alzheimer’s disease.

 

A memorial mass will take place at Saturday, July 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville with Mary’s brother, Rev. Frederick Brost officiating. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery.

Hemer Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

The former Mary Brost was born November 23, 1921at Marshfield to the late George and Leona (Gelhaus) Brost.

 

She attended Holy Rosary Catholic School in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School and was a 1944 graduate of La Crosse State Teachers College; she also did graduate studies at Northern Illinois University.

 

Her marriage to Tom C. Andresen, who survives, took place in 1946 in La Crosse.

 

She had a life-long commitment to children with special needs and over 30 years of service in the teaching profession in schools in Illinois. After their retirement, they resided in the Hayward area. Recently they returned to Illinois to live nearer their children. She was devoted to her Catholic faith, her life, rooted in that faith, was never uprooted.

 

In addition to her husband, survivors include four children Patricia Smith of Sandwich, Ill., Mary (Lyle) Frola of Oswego, Kristen Andresen of Hayward, and Thomas (Patty) Andresen of Litchfield, N.H.; six grandchildren, Roland James Smith, Kimberly, Benjamin and Kathleen Frola, and Thomas Jr. and Brian Andresen; two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Kathryn Andresen; six sisters, Audrey (Richard) Jindrich of Denver, Colo., Eva Boyce of Wauwatosa, Sister Georgia of Sisters of the School of St. Francis, Milwaukee, Patricia (Lorin) Schneider-Nickley of La Crosse, Donna Yamasaki of Goleta, Calif., and Janice Brost of Milwaukee and three brothers-Father Frederick Brost of Stetsonville; John Brost of Wauwatosa, and David P. Brost of Medford.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Timothy in 1983, two brothers, Robert and Richard Brost; three sisters-Josephine and Francis Brost in infancy, and Nancy Brost as a child.
