Wicke, Joyce L. (April 18, 1928 - August 16, 2008)

 

Joyce L. Wicke, 80, Hannibal, died Saturday, Aug. 16 at her home.

 

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 19 at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Hannibal, with Pastor Grant Brown officiating. Burial was at Mount Nebo Cemetery in Jump River.

 

The former Joyce Bosteder was born April 18, 1928 in Jump River to the late William and Nancy (Warner) Bosteder.

 

She grew up in the Jump River area and attended area schools.

 

On November 8, 1946 she married Norman Wicke, who survives. They lived in Medford five years before moving to Hannibal where they resided and raised their seven children. She had worked at Presto Industries and Drangle Foods, but most of her time was spent raising her family.

 

She enjoyed her flowers, doing crafts, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the outdoors and life.

 

In addition to her husband, survivors include her children, Donna (David) Sotak of Ladysmith, Ronald (Diane) Wicke of Jump River, Robert Wicke and Debra James, both of Hannibal, John Wicke of Princeton, Minn. and Lori (William) Stine of Bruce; three sisters, Geraldine (Walter) Kleppetsch, Jean (John) Holmberg and Marge (Ray) Buchanan; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy; four sisters, Bertha Caroll, Ida Piekarz, Darlene Wickersham and Barbara Debold; five half sisters, Edith Warner, Elizabeth Saunders, Maude Ollia, Lucinda Gilman and Phoebe Carlson; and six half brothers, Albert, Theodore, Raymond and Fred Bosteder and Vernon and Leslie Foster.

 

Plombon Funeral Service of Gilman assisted the family with arrangements.
