Herman, Shirley L. (October 11, 1928 - September 26, 2008)

Shirley L. Herman, 79, of Gilman, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 at Gilman Care Center.

She was born on October 11, 1928 in Stanley, the daughter of the late Tilmer and Lena (Mahal) Thompson.

On December 17, 1966 she married Richard Herman. For many years Shirley worked for Burzynski Insurance in Gilman as a receptionist. She enjoyed flowers, was an avid bowler and especially cherished her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Ted (Susan) Kotlowski of Hudson; three grandchildren, Angela (Kyle) Payne of Woodbury, Minn., Justin (Kimberly) Kotlowski of Wyoming, Minn., and Amanda Kotlowski of Hudson; two great-grandchildren, Jaren and Breanna; and one brother, Harvey (Deanna) Thompson of Danbury. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; and one brother, Roger Thompson.

A time of remembrance was held Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the Gilman Funeral Home. Burial was at Meadowbrook Cemetery.

Plombon Funeral Service of Gilman assisted the family with arrangements.
