Bach, Elizabeth A. (February 14, 1914 - October 12, 2009)
 
Elizabeth "Betty" A. Bach, 95, Medford, died Monday, Oct. 12 at Memorial
Nursing Home in Medford, where she had resided the past 1-1/2 years.
 
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. James Krueger officiating.
Burial will be at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Stetsonville.
Pallbearers will be Norbert Goessl, Walter Tomczyk, Bill Ludwig, Clarence
Ludwig, Tony Ludwig, Craig Ludwig, Ricky Ludwig and Zachary Ludwig.
 
The former Elizabeth Hartwig was born February 14, 1914 in Boyceville to the
late George and Anita (Sell) Hartwig Sr.
 
She attended elementary school in the Town of Deer Creek, was a 1932
graduate of Medford High School and graduated from Taylor County Normal
School with a teaching degree. After Normal School she moved to St. Paul,
Minn., and was a nanny for several families, then returned to Medford.
 
On August 26, 1940 in Stetsonville, she married Conrad K. Bach, who preceded
her in death on December 17, 1994. After their marriage they farmed in the
Town of Little Black until 1972, then remained living there until moving to
the Village of Stetsonville in 1990. They celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary in 1990. After Conrad passed away, she moved to Medford and
joined Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. She also worked as a
housekeeper for 30 years.
 
She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford and VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and a past member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stetsonville and Zion Ladies Aid where she once served as president. She
enjoyed making quilts, embroidery and gardening.
 
Survivors include two daughters, Anita Bach of Medford and Theoline (Bill)
Ludwig of Colby; a stepson, Vincent Bach of Owen; two grandsons, Anthony
(Jean) Ludwig of Medford and Craig Ludwig of Colby; four step-grandchildren,
Tim, Todd and Terry Bach of Stevens Point and Denise Zimmerman of Owen;
three great-grandchildren, Nicole, Zachary and Rachel Ludwig; two
sisters-in-law, Rosella Genrich of Milwaukee and Frances Bach of Medford;
nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
 
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three
sons, Charles in 1953, Lyman in 1969 and Wayne in 1976; and eight siblings,
George Jr., Harvey, Earl, John, Prudence, Adeline, Mary and Bill.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made in Betty's name
to Black River Industries, 650 Jensen Dr., Medford, WI 54451.
 
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
