Heninger, Anita Frances (Odau ) (February 6, 1920 - May 25, 2009)

Anita Frances Heninger, 89, Rib Lake, died Monday, May 25 at Golden LivingCenter in Rib Lake.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 30 at 5 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Westboro, with Rev. Robert Giese officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.

The former Anita Odau was born February 6, 1920 in Westboro to the late George and Amelia (Krushat) Odau. She attended Westboro Graded School and was a 1938 graduate of Westboro High School. She moved to Chicago, Ill., in 1938 and was employed at Sonora Radio and Television Co. where she assembled and soldered radios used during World War II.

On May 25, 1946 at Grace Lutheran Church in Chicago, she married Darrell Keith Heninger, who preceded her in death in 1969.

They lived in Chicago then moved to Lake Como in 1955. She worked as a cook for the Lake Geneva School System, at Lake Como and later for the Lake Geneva Elementary School. During the summertime, she was a cook for the Christian League for the Handicapped and Covenant Harbor, Lake Geneva, for Camp Willabay in Williams Bay and later was a cook at Lakeland Hospital in Elkhorn, retiring in 1986. She moved to Westboro in 1988.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church where she was treasurer of the Ladies Aid from 1995-2005, Premeau-Schauss VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Como Club in Lake Como. She enjoyed flowers, plants, the outdoors, socializing with relatives and friends, spending time with her grandchildren and reading.

Survivors include two sons, William (Connie) of Ogema and Tom (special friend Linda) of Watertown; a stepson, Keith (Lynn) Heninger of San Jose, Calif.; a step-daughter-in-law, Jan Heninger of Port Orange, Fla.; a brother, Harold "Bud" (Gladys) of Windsor, Colo.; four grandchildren, Benjamin and Riley Heninger, Charlotte (Kyle) Heikkinen and Jesse Heninger; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur (Evelyn), Edwin (Georgiana) and Richard (Bonnie); a sister, Dorothy (Earl) Grittner; a daughter-in-law, Susan Heninger in 2006; and a stepson, Herbert Heninger in 2008.

Memorial contributions in her honor may be given to First Lutheran Church Sunday School.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
