Bolstad, Harvey (June 10, 1931 - April 27, 2009)

Harvey Bolstad, age 77, of Gilman, passed away at his home on Monday, April 27, 2009.

Services will be held on Thursday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Yellow River, with Pastors Howard and Bonnie Weber officiating. Burial will follow in the Yellow River Cemetery with military honors by the Gilman American Legion Post 359.

Harvey was born in Gilman on June 10, 1931 to the late Norman and Bernice (Wells) Bolstad.

He grew up in the area attending Elder Valley Grade School and Gilman High School. Later he served in the Army from 1953 to 1956 in the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, he worked as an over the road truck driver.

On September 18, 1965, he was united in marriage to Carol Jean Berge at Glen Flora Lutheran Church. After their marriage they lived and farmed in the Town of Aurora.

Harvey enjoyed woodworking and his specialty was clock making. He also enjoyed sharing his skills with young people being a 4-H project leader and making many items for numerous projects.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Jean of Gilman; two children, Brian (Cheryl) of Gilman and Tena Bolstad of Madison; three grandchildren, Allen, Benjamin and Laura Bolstad; and three sisters, Eunice (Vernon) VanLaarhoven of Bluegrass, Iowa, Clarice (Fred) Gabryel of Gilman and Fern (Richard) Johnson of Jump River.

He is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Bernice Bolstad; and one sister, Mina Lee.

Plombon Funeral Service of Gilman assisted the family with arrangements.
