Piater, Ruby (Jari) (December 7, 1917 - November 24, 2008)

Ruby Piater, 90, Medford, died Monday, Nov. 24 at Golden LivingCenter in Rib Lake.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. John Melke officiating. Interment will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Pallbearers are Bruce and Russell Jari, Dave Bizer, Tim and Jim Widmer and Richard Dashek.

Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

The former Ruby Jari was born December 7, 1917 in the Town of Browning to the late Louis and Annie (Paur) Jari.

She attended Cloverdale School in the Town of Browning.

On June 25, 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa, she married John Piater, who survives. They owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Browning for 71 years.

She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and Homemakers Club. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, knitting, gardening, baking and cooking.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Thomas) Fuhrmann of Weyerhaeuser; a brother, Arthur of Medford; and a sister, Marion Ihlenfeld of West Bend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor and Ralph; and a sister, Grace.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in her name to Hope Hospice, Golden LivingCenter or to Alzheimer's research.

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
